HANOI, VIETNAM (JAN 2012)
During the CNY of 2012, my friends and I went on a 5D4N trip to Hanoi which includes trekking in Sapa and cruising in Ha Long Bay.
Hanoi is the cultural capital city of Vietnam, located on the northern region. We came to Hanoi during the winter season. It was really cold especially that we’re not prepared for the weather. So after eating pho and spring rolls at one of the local restaurants, we immediately shopped for some winter clothes and accessories, as we will also need these for our trekking in the much colder, Sapa. There are plenty of shops that sell winter clothing in Hanoi. You might even score some good quality North Face jackets and bags which can be either knockoffs or factory overruns.
After our trekking in Sapa, we went back to Hanoi, had breakfast at the hotel and at around 8AM, a van picked us up for a one day cruise in Ha Long Bay.
Halong Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage site and a popular destination which is usually included in the itinerary of anyone travelling to Hanoi. The bay features thousands of limestone karsts and isles. A day trip to the bay is actually too short so if you want to see more, then a two or three-day cruise might be better for you.
Thanks to Madam Moon Guesthouse for organizing our trip. We had so much fun!
