KRABI, THAILAND (NOV 2011)
November is my birthday month. I have already made it a habit to travel on my birthday. I just wanted to relax and take time off from work and my idea of relaxation is this: watching the sunset on the beach with a drink in my hand. 🙂
I booked a trip to Krabi to see the famous Maya Bay from the movie The Beach. I just regret that I only booked a 3D2N trip which means we have only one full day and two half days because the other half were spent on traveling. Our hotel also is quite far from the airport, so I asked them to arrange a pickup service from the airport.
We booked a one day Phi Phi Islands tour from one of the shops outside the hotel. The tour also includes a pickup service from the hotel, Thai food lunch, fresh fruits and drinks.
“I’m moving, I’m coming. Can you hear what I hear? It’s calling you my dear out of reach (take me to my beach…)
I can hear it calling you. I’m coming not drowning, swimming closer to you.” – PURE SHORES BY ALL SAINTS
Maya Bay is a part of Phi Phi Leh. It is as beautiful as I imagined it would be: powdery white sands, crystal clear waters matched with a sunny weather to give the perfect blue sky. The only downside is we can only stay for 20 minutes in the island. I heard they are doing this to control the number of visitors to the island. The beach is very crowded indeed but it is worth visiting.
Our tour includes snorkeling to somewhere in Phi Phi Leh which I don’t remember. Then we also visited Phi Phi Don which is the larger island and more commercialised. There are a number of hotels in the island and lots of shops selling souvenirs and offering island hopping tours.
We spent more time at Bamboo Island where we also had our lunch. We were happy that it is not as crowded as Maya Bay. There we were able to relax by the beautiful white sand beach. 🙂
We stayed at the lovely Rawi Warin Resort, which we booked from Agoda at a very good price. It is quite far from the airport so we also booked a pick-up service from the hotel. We enjoyed our stay in this resort for it has beautiful surroundings and excellent service from the staff.
